Baking (A-Z Challenge)

One of my favorite things to do is bake desserts.  Eating them is even better but let’s stick to baking since B is the letter of the day.  By age 5 I was in the kitchen helping my mom with baking and I’ve loved it ever since because it’s one of my many creative outlets that I need.

Many people think baking is hard but the way I look at it is that if you can read, you can bake.  Same goes for cooking 😛  The recipes are laid out simply step by step that all you need to do is to follow along.  Baking is chemistry using precise measurements for some things and not so precise for others.  One tip when putting it in the oven, if the recipe says bake for 12-15 minutes, always set your timer and start at the first number so in this case, 12 and check on your little treasure.  If it’s not done go up minute by minute and keep checking so it doesn’t burn.  Don’t start a new project at this time you’ll forget what’s in the oven 😉

Usually my go to items are cakes, pies, cookies, squares, muffins, breads, pastries, you name it, starting with B.  Brownies, Blondies, Blueberry Muffins, Bourbon Pecan Pie,  Butterscotch Bars, Bagatelle and so much more.

The busiest time for baking is at Christmas where my entire kitchen is turned upside down and clouds of flour and icing sugar are everywhere among mountains of candy and chocolate. There’s one baking rule and that’s to have my music on so I can sing and dance but usually it’s loud because I need to hear it over my mixer!

What baked goods do you like to eat?  Chances are I’ve baked it 😀

And ate it 😉

  2. I hope you baked one more for me. 😛
Lovely. It looks yummy. I can say more and more about it but, lets pause. You’re right, don’t start some other work during baking, else you will need to put more time to get rid of what get burnt in the oven. 😀
